Missing May

I swore to myself a second post would get put up in May and missed it.
The month included the magic mix of dinner and a musical -- The Book of Mormon -- with some good friends.
My version of B&W dressing: Crewcuts boys' tuxedo shirt,
Pixie pant in leather tuxedo stripe, Daniele Ancarani mary janes,
vintage plastic and rhinestone clamper bracelet.
I brought "my book": the Kate Spade Learn The Hustle clutch.
We googled "do Mormons dance" and the answer was "yes."
I love the subtle details to look like a well-worn library item.
And found the laminated finish quite necessary in the ladies' room where a dry spot on the counter is not to be found.
Until the show, I had no idea a disco ball was prominent to the staging/lighting. Was I in theme or what? Or what!
As mentioned, the evening included dinner, the perfect place at this elegant hotel just across from the theater.
The dining room is lovely.
I didn't snap the above two pics, putting blogger cam on hold most of the evening but I did take a quick shot of my short rib tortellini:
They were marvelous morsels.

How was your May and what's in store for June?
Is your world finally getting more color?

  1. You look so chic! I looooooved the show! It was the funniest and if it weren't so hard to get tickets I'd go again...that clutch has great details too. May has been crazy....and probably the busiest I've been in a while and funny enough I thought if I don't post something now I may end up quitting so I just persevered! Here is to a calmer June!

    1. Hi Naomi, the show was a pleasant surprise, I didn't know what to expect. You have been crazy busy! I know it's awfully tempting to quit at times, I've gone there in my thoughts a bit. I'm hoping persevering continues to be rewarding for you. Ditto the wish for calmer!

May was crazy. June is looking a but calmer, which is just as well otherwise I might implode.

  3. Love this T.R. May has been crazy for me as well and June promises to be worse (or better depending upon your perspective...) Love the hustle clutch! It is finally warm here and I hardly got to wear my spring clothing! strange days indeed! I still want to get to the Book of Mormon as well, though every time we have tried when heading to NYC has always been sold out!

    1. Hi Wendy, I hope June is better for all your perspectives! Isn't the hustle clutch funny? I love to dance and used to dance the hustle so you know how it goes for a reason to have something. As for the show, I do hope somehow it's in your future. I was lucky my friends who love theater got me to join the subscription for the wonderful performances.

  5. Hello:

All of this looks and sounds to have been great fun. Your evening out with friends followed by dinner in such splendid surroundings must have been very enjoyable.

A trip to Italy beckons us this June to meet up with dear friends.

  6. I'm DYING to see the Book of Mormon. But it hasn't reached Australia yet, and I haven't reached anywhere else it's showing for a few years either! Loved your in synch outfit, perfect choice of clutch, and the shirt looks wonderful. Looks like a perfect evening - good food, entertainment and good friends. xx

    1. Hello Heidi, not in Australia yet? I do hope you get to it when it comes your way. That clutch was the right colors to grab and I was being a bit tongue in cheek as well, had to laugh when I saw the big disco ball. It was a perfect evening, not much missing for a wonderful time. Thanks for your nice words.

  9. Yum! I love short rib pretty much anything. I'm really hoping to go and see The Book of Mormon this year! Did you like it? As always, I love your outfit. Sophisticated and cool, something rarely achieved.

We had a couple of long weekends in May, and the weather was glorious, but my plans fell through (and my husband was working), so I spent lots of time sitting on my kitchen floor bathed in a pool of sun from the open window reading a book. In between it's been raining. I'd love summer to arrive once and for all, but I think that's something I should probably forget about.

    Ever the pessimistic optimist.

    1. I'll tell you a secret, Philippa ... if you ever get to the U.S., try the short rib tortellini at one of the Olive Garden chain restaurants. Though more casual than where I was, it's just as if not more delicious and you'll get a decent dinner portion as opposed to what could pass as an appetizer.

The Book of Mormon was quite enjoyable, but one must keep an open mind to go with it in the spirit of crazy fun.

Your time sitting on your kitchen floor bathed in sunlight and reading a book sounds glorious. Once we got past the unusual brutal heat in May, it's been absolutely wonderful weather here. I'd love summer to arrive for you or to experience ours when it's like this. I'm the optimistic optimist. :)

    1. Hi Jody, you mean the little boys' tux shirt? It's well done and even inexpensive as I got it on super sale. No need for theater for an outing with the tux shirt, I wear it to work or whateva. Those morsels were très yummy, I will share if you come visit.
