Speaking of Sequins

Could this be my go-to look?
Sequins, skinny pants and pumps. I'm all over it.
WMM spoke of sparkles. And I'm on the same train,
having this post already planned -- with some excitement --
since I rarely have on "hot off the press" things.
I'm the sale-section-only shopper.

Though the polka-dot sequin top is completely sequined,
would you believe I thought it subtle?
It may be the "thousands of small sequins in a light yet dense layout"
or the dark color, the top didn't hit me as too bling-bling.
Something the CFS missed, it's of 100% cotton, not viscose,
and that was a pleasant surprise.
I really like the top but one thing kinda bugs me.
See those split or adjacent polka dots?
That's how it is along the side seams.
I guess it might be too difficult to make the pattern work
across the seams in all sizes. But still, it bothers.
What do you think, am I fretting too much?

    2. The short answer is I think so as far as whether this top is TTS. But stay with me WMM - I will put up another post this weekend explaining why it's not a simple answer, I have tried on the black on champagne polka dot sequin top too.

    1. Tabitha - I thought of the same thing ... cell division from those science documentaries. What a scary thought for you, my own generator of more and more sequins!

  4. I love this on you, yes it's your look.
The top is cotton, the CFS gets wackier all the time!

    1. Thank you, Dani! I think it is, I have no qualms about wearing sequins shamelessly. There are times you get a good surprise, one time I got shoes that had leather soles and the CFS said they were manmade.

  6. This is your go-to look for sure! I love this on you and I would not worry about the minor detail of the split polka dots. I think you are the only one that will notice that:) Everyone else will be in awe of your sparkling glory!

    1. Awww ... thank you, biscuitsandnavy! I do fret about details others don't notice. It's that perfectionist thing my mom taught me. ;)

  7. Yes, I love this entire look as well. I was thinking of this same top to wear over long sleeve shirts for winter. I'm loving that it's not itchy. Looks like I will have to buy at FP since I've become more of a sale shopper with J.Crew lately.

    1. I'll check on the itchiness and get back later ...

    2. Thanks, Shariyu. It doesn't seem to be as scratchy as other sequined tops, I suppose it depends on how sensitive you are. But you should be just fine wearing it over a shirt.

  11. Don't chip away at it. You're just feeling odd because it's not on sale. It's so cute in-store and agree w/your comment about subtlety. It's sooooooooooo super cute on you. Thanks for letting me know you reviewed it. I'm hoping to try it on this weekend.

    1. You're right, Gigi. I tend to be picky already and especially so when it's not on steep discount. Yeah, isn't it weird it's kind of subtle for being covered in sequins? That is coming from a human disco ball of course. Thanks so much for your nice comments. I'm doing a follow-up post on the black on champagne version so stay tuned ;) Let me know how you like it when you try.

  13. Ooh, adorable! What a great outfit! That top is super cute, and I'm glad that it's not itchy since that's what everyone was saying about the chevron sequin tee.

    1. Checking on the itch factor, will update ...

    2. Hi Whitney! I wore it without a shirt under just for you. ;) And it is not as itchy/scratchy as most sequined tops, especially one solidly covered in sequins. It is more comfortable than the zigzag sequin tee, which I also have. But it is still a sequined top so it will never be as a plain sweater or tee. I will talk about it more in the next post but would you believe the black one is more comfortable than the champagne one?

  23. That's such a great look! The denim Minnies, button-down shirt, and pumps are such great pairings with the top. And I like the thought of cell mitosis along the seams! Lol.
