Santa Ana Saturday

This is the location of Palmer's summer home.
Thank goodness he and his family left months ago.
Because it would have been a wild ride in that little nest.
Here's the detail for part of our day.
Some local areas had wind gusts up to 70 mph.

Thank God, for letting us get through today
without some fool starting up a disaster.

(weather update)
Arrggh.
But the winds have died down.
In some ways, it's a little bit like being in irons when sailing.
We might even get a touch of rain this week.

  1. So glad you are well. Now, when I think of Santa Ana winds they seem romantics, after seeing that movie where Kate Winslet goes to LA for Christmas after switching houses with Cameron Diaz and is told that the Santa Ana winds are magical!

    1. Oh Wendy they are not romantic at all, they are frightening when the hot, strong and dry winds blow through leaves that become instantly brittle. It feels as if all the life is sucked out of things. The sounds, especially at night, are creepy.

  2. Oh, that's always miserable - feels like God has the blow dryer aimed at the city. Hope the winds die down soon for you!

  3. Glad you are safe. We had terrible winds last weekend also. Six percent humidity? i don't think Vancouver has ever seen such a low number.

    1. Thanks, Rose. You have the damp/wet and we (occasionally) get the extremely dry. Our humidity is usually quite comfortable but THIS dry heat is not very nice.

    1. Hi P! We've weathered this one, ha, but not out of the woods since our Santa Ana season is usually through November. Thanks for your thoughts. :)
