Fall Pretense

It's going to cool off to a high of 85F tomorrow today.
At 1:05 p.m. today yesterday, it was 100F.
Not exactly autumn weather but I'm trying to fake it with some fall colors.
But of course you know these trousers are linen.
(Yes, more crazy pants I cannot help it.)
At least they don't look like I slept in them, the weight of the linen is heavy enough to keep them from getting too rumply.

With the lightweight (ahem, very lightweight and why pockets are so common on shirts)
gauzy shirt, it's a scheme from Out of Africa.
At least in my mind. And reminding me of WMM's post.

(Yes please, to Robert Redford washing my hair.)
Did you fall in love with RR like the Danish baroness and me?

P.S. I'm still loving these shoes and awfully tempted to get a second pair for backup since prices have fallen on summer styles here
(click on Designer and look for Chie Mihara).

Top Dot Top

Bottom line: I love this top.
My mom had a silk tie-neck blouse that I still remember vividly.
She always wore it with a little suit, looking very Jackie O.
Though it's a completely different blue,
the tie-neck top in dot reminds me of my mom's blouse.

It made me feel stylish, classy and ladylike all day.
The fabric is a 100% silk crepe de chine. A medium heavy weight that doesn't quite qualify as "sumptuous" in my mind. But still a very nice weight silk.

The cuffed short sleeves made it more modern and chic.
The polka dots added lightheartedness, the navy color made it a classic.

It does not button or zip and I thought I'd struggle to put on the top but I did not and only had a tiny bit of trouble pulling the top off.

The only annoying detail is the "sweet keyhole hook-and-eye closure" because it's a hand-and-eye coordination challenge that will make
dressing in a hurry impossible. But still, it's my favorite of all the polka dotted blouses, sweaters or tees I've tried or seen.
I wore it with a jacket (the Verona from a past season), but only
inside the office when the AC got too cool.
And pants that looked like I slept in them (the Paley from a past season).
Yes, I'm still wearing linen; it was horribly sticky hot today.

The other bottom line? The shoes aka kid gloves for your feet:
the Kate Spade Sienna pump. I'm in love with them too.

Sunny Delight

Wearing yellow to cheer a Monday.
And linen because it's been and still sizzling hot in SoCal.
The Tessa top is cool and easy to toss on, if you don't mind looking
like you slept in it within minutes of wearing.
Such is the charm of linen.

Though I'm wild about animal print (ha!), I wasn't immediately
drawn to the Bennett cropped chino in snowcat. After the wardroberometer in my mind showed a few outfits of brights or white, black or chambray with the black-and-white print, I thought it worth a try since I'd also wondered for months about how the Bennett chino differed from plain old chinos.
As you can see they are full length not cropped on me, which I prefer.
The (97% cotton 3% spandex) fabric is quite substantial and stretchy, and along with the skinny fit, can make one feel as sleek as a cat.
I'm the crazy pants lady, I love these pants.

I think the shoes from Brooks Brothers are a fabulous buy at 50% off.
All-leather construction, lots of room in the toe box
and a classic color combination and style.
I'm the crazy shoe lady, how can I resist these summer spectators?!
