It's flounced, but I thought of the starched white shirts men wear for
business dress when I received it. I love a white shirt and had to have this
ruffly yet crisp version from Kate Spade. I love it so much I wish I'd
ruffly yet crisp version from Kate Spade. I love it so much I wish I'd
purchased a second one as back-up. A little extravagant, perhaps,
but that'll remain a thought since the shirt is sold out.
There've been many false positive hits on my blog for the
café capri in silk foulard. (and continuing my attempt to provide something informative ... )
A foulard is a lightweight fabric, either twill or plain-woven, made of silk or a mix of silk and cotton. Foulards usually have a small printed design of various colors. J.Crew calls the print "inspired by classic men's neckties."
As you can see, the capri pants are full length on 5'2" me.
They are 100% silk and while the fabric appears smooth, it is woven
with a very subtle slub texture. It's unlined.
They are lightweight and will hardly take any room and add
virtually no weight if you pack them for a trip.
So here's the bottom line (slapping knee for gigi!):
The fabric has no see-through but I felt a little exposed.
Though the print may be masculine, I'd like something beefier
between me and the world for my trousers.
(I'm referring to the weight of the fabric.)
Tiffany Rose - I love that blouse - so pretty! Beefier, eh? Love that! You gotta love what you are wearing that's for sure...
ReplyDeleteYep, I'd like beefier fabric for my pants ;) But I did feel classy in this outfit.
DeleteSo pretty though- love the blouse! I always try to pick up one from my friend Kate when she has amazing sales. THese are the tops I always reach for when I need something and I am nver disappointed. I know what you mean about the pants. It is aweird feeling- plus I bet they would wrinkle really easily. I think that silks are going the way of mass poduced cahmere- thinner and lower quality. There is really high end fabric store in my little town ( Chanel and Valentino fabric and pattern books everywhere) and the owner said that silk prices have almost tripled recently. She has lower stock b/c she won't carry the less expensive but cheaper feeling fabric.
ReplyDeleteThanks, MJ. Kate and I are becoming fast friends, we spend a good amount of time together when she has those amazing sales. I'm so happy I got this shirt. As for the pants, I think the silk may be high quality but it's the wrong weight, the fabric is more suitable for a shirt or scarf or necktie! I sure hope we don't all get priced out of natural fabrics.
DeleteI almost got those pants and I think they look great on you! But if you don't feel right in them, then it's not worth it. Or is it:) I think they will be great for fall and maybe winter, the color and pattern anyway. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThanks and thanks for coming by, biscuitsandnavy! I think they'd look great on you too and if you decide to try them, beware the fabric is the weight of something for a shirt. I got used to it but it was weird at first.
DeleteThe blouse is fabulous! I love that twist on a classic. The ruffle is just right.
ReplyDeleteMe too! That's why I had to have it. And it's of a good opaque fabric.
DeleteI like those pants on you - they fit nicely and the pattern is lovely! I agree though, if you don't feel comfy in them then they aren't worth keeping.
ReplyDeleteHi Katherine, thanks! The pattern is my favorite part and they are nicely constructed. I do like that it's silk, just wish it was heavier silk.
Deleterofl It's past midnite, so I had to do the silent, mouth open laugh that looks like a grimace. That was a good one! Or maybe I'm just cornily amused. I love crazy pants, but couldn't get into these. Now the KS top. Why the heck didn't I see that! Loveth!
ReplyDeleteLOL, gigi! You've made me laugh many times so I'm happy to hear I've returned the favor some.
DeleteSome things disappear quickly from the KS sales section, especially when an extra sale goes on. I had my sights on this shirt and pounced as soon as it went sale on sale!
Thanks so much for visiting!!
