A Very Late Thanksgiving

You call that a gravy boat?
This is a gravy boat.
You're supposed to read that
with this in mind:
In addition to big bird (a 23.7 pound turkey)
we did 10 pounds of candied yams
five pounds of mashed potatoes,
two different stuffings (they filled two extra large roasting pans),
two kinds of cranberry sauce,
some peas so we can pretend we ate vegetables,
and had pumpkin pie and ice cream.

We did not host dinner for 20, there were only five of us.
Which is why I was glad I didn't glam,
I had all these ideas but I wore this (perfect wear for peeling potatoes and stuffing stuffing):
This is obviously an awfully tardy post.
And an awkward segue to say thank you.
(With all good intentions I meant to do it way before now.)
First to M of Apples & Pencil Skirts
and rynetta of jcrewismyfavstore
for giving me
Then to Andrea of Tweed and Toile
for awarding me
And last but certainly not at all the least
for bestowing on me the
There are questions to be answered and other bloggers to nominate.
But I figure I should get on with at least the thanks
so I'm not even more delinquent with each passing day.
{hangs head in shame for realizing how overdue I am}
Is it really true better late than never?
And can overalls ever work with heels?

    1. We finally had enough gravy for the five of us to be happy.

Thanks, Tabs. I thought the overalls were a brilliant idea myself.

  2. Tiffany Rose - how DO you stay so thin????

    I love the overalls!

DO not fret on the awards - Tabs gave me one about 8 days ago, but I am so behind this month that i have not gotten to it yet! We all love you and your blog so that's enough!

    1. I never had the good fortune to know her, but I've been told I take after one of my grandmothers who was always thin. I tell people to take time to chew really well, as in every grain of rice gets pulverized if eating rice.

The overalls were great for all the sloppy prep and cooking and eating. They may just become a tradition.

Aww, thanks! I'm always late and much too short. ;)

    1. Yes we did even though I ate two platefuls and I won't say who but one of the five used a platter for the dinner plate. We got to the point of being totally sick of it but now I want it all again.

Don't tell anybody how many sticks of butter went into that meal.

  4. Congrats on the blog awards. Looks like a delightful meal. I made a whole turducken for just two people one year. Family thought I was a bit loopy but it was awesome.

I think you're on to the latest formalwear trend. See THIS LINK with Justin Bieber in his overalls, which is what he wore to accept an award from the Canadian Prime Minister. Scroll down for the photo and yes, that is really him and not a wax statue, and I'm talking about the Biebs here, not the PM (who is often criticized as being emotionless, made of ice/stone, etc.).

    1. Thanks xoxo. Turducken .... I've never tried (will likely not) but I've heard it's outrageously delicious. Lucky, lucky other person.

Ha, me and the Biebs! Very funny. Thanks for letting me know I'm all wardrobe ready to meet the Canadian PM.

    1. Hi phiphi and thanks. That dinner is decadent for certain, I keep meaning to keep track of how many sticks of butter are used but I keep losing count.

  6. Oh lady, gravy, stuffing, and cranberry sauce sounds delish! I adore nothing better than leftover Thanksgiving sandwiches - I may need to make some more stuffing this week!

    1. Thanksgiving sandwiches, yum! We have the sweet stuffing for breakfast the next day and I like leftover turkey and mashed potatoes swimming in gravy. The candied yams are sweet enough for dessert. Oh I'm starting to droool ...

  7. Jealous!! We went to my husband's cousin's house for Thanksgiving and they opted for seafood gumbo instead of traditional turkey:( Am trying not to lick my screen right now...oh and definitely heels with overalls. SUPER cute!!!

  12. You look fabulous in those overalls and your TG looks yum (I love to ensure there's plenty of food too) Just saw loads of celebs in some magazine wearing overalls in all configurations, so you are right on the money! (BTW, what in the heck happened to that bloke?)

    1. Went to look for those celebs and you are right, I had no idea I was so on trend!

Your question got me curious ... looks like the bloke got into a bit of trouble with the Australian tax office but he did stay married to his Crocodile Dundee co-star since 1990.
