Resisted the french hen sweater.
And passed on the factory puffin sweater.
Because I have the original puffin sweater from 2008.
It's not merino wool/nylon/cashmere.
It's not viscose/nylon/wool.
It's 100% cashmere. The good stuff.
From the good old days, baby.
I don't mean to gloat.
I just want to do a happy dance that I have it.
Good on you! Though I am mostly still coveting those shoes!
ReplyDeleteThanks WMM! These were my silver Valentina substitutes but I think I like them better since they are much more comfortable than the Valentinas. They've since disappeared from the site where I got them so might be long gone. ;(
DeleteVery cute outfit!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much ina!
DeleteI hadn't even realized there had been a cashmere version! I remember years and years ago (2004, maybe) J. Crew had a TON of critter cashmere sweaters. I didn't get any of them (too expensive for me on the budget I had at the time), but I am still a bit envious of any lady who was able to get one for her closet. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great on you and I love the styling!
Thank you, Dina! Not only is this cashmere, it's a much nicer cashmere than what they use now. I too used to lust after things in the catalogs when most things were out of my budget but I was lucky enough to get a few nice critter sweaters. You can still find some on the aftermarket, and for decent prices too if you're patient.
DeleteSo jealous of your original puffin sweater! so cute!
ReplyDeleteThanks, J.CrewJD! I find the puffin endearing in an off way.
DeleteI love the sweater and how you've styled it. The mirror metallic shoes are amazing with the dark jeans and it's so cute that the puffin appears to be wearing polka dots too.
ReplyDeleteI'm enjoying a lot of my older J.Crew items lately. I have several pieces that I wear during the holidays. I hope you'll share an outfit post featuring the tartan jacket you mentioned on my blog. Can't wait to see how you style it.
I almost took a close-up of the puffin with the polka dots showing through. Figures Ms. Don't Miss A Detail would notice. ;)
DeleteI too am loving my older J.Crew items and comparing new things against them more and more. And you're right, something about the holidays makes me want to bring them out. I will post the tartan jacket, you'd really appreciate the details of it.
I love the original puffin sweater!!! You lucky duck!! Adorable styling - great shoes xoxo
ReplyDeleteI'm a lucky duck indeed. Thanks very much Kristi!
DeleteSo cute! I'm not one for critter sweaters, but you are changing my mind....OMG those shoes...details please :-)
ReplyDeleteThe critters are either meaningful or they make me (or others) smile, so that can't be bad. ;)
DeleteThe shoes ... I found them on shoescribe.com in the sale section under Daniele Ancarani. Thought they were a nice alternative to the silver Valentinas and I think they are even better since the wider and leather soles make them really comfortable, much more comfortable than the Valentinas. These have since disappeared though, I got them several months ago. :(
I chase the original critters on eBay psychotically!
ReplyDeleteWFF - I've taken up hunting for vintage critters myself!
DeleteYour sweater is SO cute and I love the outfit with those sparkly shoes!
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, ABC! The older cashmere is so soft and I'm glad I took a chance to order these Daniele Ancarani shoes, not having any previous experience with the brand.
ReplyDeleteMakes me sad that the quality just isn't the same as it used to be:(
ReplyDeleteWhat will the puffin sweater in 2016 be made of??? Garbage!?
Maybe recycled plastic garbage bags, lol.
DeleteThe happy dance penquin, surely the original is always the happiest and the best - looks fab with your shiny silver shoes too! (Love knits with shiny shoes..)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jody. If you're reading this, better late than never, righteo?
DeleteHi, love reading your blog. Could you comment if the Daniele Ancarani shoes run true to size? Thank you!
ReplyDeleteHi Anon, thanks for your visits! From my experience, the Daniele Ancarani shoes run generous, they seem to be bigger than others, not narrow and definitely longer. That's why I like the mary jane styles to stay on better while my wide feet enjoy the extra room. Let me know if you have more questions ...
