Going Going Gondola

Inspired by Ema, I'm posting the last of my styling ideas for the Gondola stripe coat from this polyvore set. I'd previously blogged about the coat here and here so I'm done with this subject, at least for a very, very long time.

These are not the holy grail of white trousers (Jody, you know what I'm talking about). They are the Prabal Gurung at J.Crew Strong Seamed denim pant. The strong seams are not as interesting as I was hoping for, the fit would be far better on someone at least a couple inches taller (sigh, guess I should get them hemmed so the pants break properly) and they are higher waisted than my preference.
But most disappointing is how you can still see the pocket lining
through the very thick white denim (not easily, but you can).
I hate that. So the search for the perfect white trousers continues ...

Do you wear white pants?
Have you found the perfect pair?
Do you have any hints for where to find the ultimate?

  1. Tiffany Rose - I love this look - so classic!

I own two pairs of white pants right now - a pair of trousers from Theory that are okay, but no spectacular, and a pair of Ralph Lauren jeans that straight-legged, but not overly great. The quest goes on and often ends in tragedy, as I am such a klutz!

    1. Thanks, WMM! No bigger klutz than me. I've had many tragic moments with my clothes. And answer me this, why do I throw marinara sauce or salad dressing on myself whenever I wear white?

  3. I've got white jeans from Target that are perfect - not see through, great weight. I have yet to find a similar white trouser that could be worn for work. Everything I've found has pocket show through. If you do find the holy grail of white trousers, please post it!

  4. I went on a search for white skinny jeans at the beginning of summer. I ended up with the White Skinny Jeans from Boden. But I'm sad to report they are sold out in most sizes but good news is that Boden tends to bring back the same items year after year. The great things about them is that the pockets are flesh colored. No show through.

I have two pairs of white pants from Old Navy. The Linen Tie Front Trousers are a little sheer but their loose so it's not a big deal and The Sweetheart Surplus Trouser Jeans (from a few years ago) which are made from a nice weight white denim.

    1. What a good idea, nude colored pockets! I'm pretty happy with the white denim matchsticks from JC but good white trousers seem to be possibly impossible?! ;)

  5. Nice outfit, I like dark on the top with light on the bottom for summer.

I have a pair of white skinny jeans from CoH and the front pockets did show through very slightly and it really annoyed me so I had them sewn shut along the same stitching and then cut the pocket linings out. That probably wouldn't work for trousers but It solved the problem for my jeans.

    1. Thanks, xoxo, this was my favorite combination thus far with the coat.

Isn't it amazing the trouble we go through to "fix" clothing annoyances? I like pockets so losing them would not be my first choice. :(

I'm sure what you did really helped to get a sleek line in your jeans. :)

  7. We belong to a pool club that doesn't allow any denim (can you imagine?) so I am still on the hunt for white trousers. In the past even with AG white jeans which I like, I tend to have the dry cleaner sew up the pockets

    1. I have this thing about pockets, even if I don't use them, I want them to be functional. I have white jeans I like (J.Crew cropped or regular matchsticks) but the hunt for the ultimate white trou continues ...
