Peplum Pablum

Dunno if I'm really loving the peplum top.
I wasn't going after the look on the catwalk.
And I don't expect to join the ladies on this street style page.
But I loved the fabric and print of the café capri in fresco floral sateen so much, I snagged the peplum top when it got to a reasonable price
and a good % off promo came along and my size popped back.
Shopping with M did a fantastic review. Though I didn't find it easy to slip on or off probably because I didn't size up. I also found it quite high waisted (remember, I'm only 5'2" so how is it on taller ladies?).
I'm so happy the sleeves are not puffy per their pics.

Oh a random tip to pass on ... button first before zipping up the side and
unzip before unbuttoning. Put up your hair before zipping up.

I might next try it with jeans or a pencil skirt.
But in my secret garden, I'm wearing it with the matching pants.

I'm a fashion geek, what about you?

  1. I think it's so pretty, I've avoided peplums because that was my secret dressing weapon when I was overweight, I swear I owned about 14 peplum tops and dresses in the 80's, it was all I wore. As my legs stay relatively thin, I could hide my big belly under there and it gave me the illusion of a waist - they are perfect for apple shaped figures.

    1. I can't imagine you back then but I sure can imagine you wearing one now and looking gorgeous with your figure!

  2. I think it's really gorgeous on you. I also tried this on and felt it was very high waisted and I'm even shorter at 5 feet. The blogger at This Time Tomorrow recently posted a really cute outfit idea with this top where she put a collard shirt underneath.

    1. Thanks biscuits! I'm going to check This Time Tomorrow. I think I've seen that outfit with the collard shirt and it is really cute. But I'm afraid I might get stuck if I tried it, I struggle to get in and out of it now. ;)

  3. It does look a bit short on you. (This is why it drives my crazy that J.Crew doesn't do more talls!!!!) A great outfit, thanks for sharing.

  4. I also think it's very pretty. I really like it with the teal Juliet pumps. I bought this a while back and I am saving it for the fall weather. I found it very high-waisted and I bought one size larger than my usual shirt size too.

    1. Hmmm, maybe I should have bought it one size larger so I can try it with a collard shirt as biscuitsandnavy has suggested. I'll look forward to see how you style it for the fall!

  5. It's a very pretty print, and it looks fabulous with the teal Juliets. I do like peplum tops, but it seems like this one does run a bit short. You look great nonetheless. Have a wonderful weekend!

  6. I think this top would look great with a pencil skirt or a more cas pair of jeans - I adore the print on it.

  7. I can't do peplum tops. I've tried a number of them. I'm too long waisted and I always end up like I'm wearing something that shrunk in the dryer.

This print is gorgeous. It does look a little short but I think it works on you.

    1. I can see that being a problem on you taller ladies. ;)

Thanks and thanks so much for coming by!

  8. I thought the capris in this print would be fun while on a tropical vacation, but beyond that, I couldn't see myself wearing them. The top is definitely not for me, since the waist would have become an empire waist on me. :D
