Like the face that launched a thousand ships,
the lovely Tabitha compelled me on at least two coats.
She probably sold a thousand Encore/Ethel trenches with this.
And the glimpse of her in bad weather got me stalking,
successfully so, for the linen slicker.
Fueled by shopping with m's review and WFF's endorsement,
I became feverish and was thrilled when I scored it some months back
on sale and with an extra percentage off .
I couldn't wait for a spit of weather to wear it.
Finally! I did and with a nod to JC's competely impractical styling.
Seriously, with fancy jammie pants and my birthday Chies?
No, no ... there was a threat of rain but it didn't.
As for Helen, did she or didn't she?
I thought the Trojan War was myth but now I'm not so sure.
I've read you become a power researcher when you blog.
So why is the past tense of read also read but read differently?
I stroked my slicker yesterday, it won't be out again till around April/May, am envying you now!
ReplyDeleteAround April is when I'd put my slicker away, we don't get rain from about then until November. Next time you plan a visit to our area, ask me about the weather first. ;)
DeleteI bought the Ethel trench after seeing it on Tabitha!! I also bought the No. 2 tall pencil skirt in antique white after seeing it on Tabitha. I'm beginning to feel like a stalker . . .
ReplyDeleteThe linen trench is gorgeous, I especially like the gold hardware.
I also just started buying longer skirts after seeing the white skirt on Tabitha, I'm certain there are other groupies.
DeleteI thought the hardware would be too weighty but it's amazing how the material is working with the heavy duty fixings. The slicker is not only interesting looking, it's quite functional.
Oh, I've always been on the longer skirt band wagon, the tip I picked up from Tabs is how great that antique white could look! I would never have given that a second thought before seeing it on her. My work wardrobe is the darker neutrals and she inspired me to try that "winter white" that I've never done before. Recently paired it with a chambray shirt and the snake print Viv flats so it can work outside my professional wardrobe too!
DeleteWhereas I have an off white wool pencil skirt already and needed to get over the assumption that a longer skirt won't work on a shortie. ;) Chambray and animal print sounds fabulous with that skirt. I will have to try it!
Delete3 EASY PIECES All of you with those brave light-coloured coats have my style-shout out. My chocolate Chies have also been enquiring about jammie pants apparently. Also make me smile Tiffany Rose that you crave rain/ cooler weather to give more of your closet an outing. Up here I am already craving flip flops and a cotton cardi - at most.
ReplyDeleteOh GetFresh, you would easily be styling this coat, it's coated with possibly a clear polyurethane so it should shrug off dirt and mud. Yes I'm whining about not enough coat weather but I'm sure I will be whining as soon as it's just chilly. Come visit, it will be 77F tomorrow.
DeleteYour shoes look like they were made for those JC pants! Love the whole look:) xo
ReplyDeleteThanks biscuitsandnavy! It wouldn't work if we actually got rain but it worked well enough for that day. ;)
DeleteI love a nice raincoat to brighten a cloudy day and this one has your name written all over it. The shoes really tie it all together perfectly. I had a silver slicker in high school and would probably still be wearing it if it fit.
ReplyDeleteI love this slicker more than I thought I would. A silver slicker! A woman after my own heart. ;)
DeleteThat is one slick slicker and think on the bright side - your gorgeous shoes won't get wet. Nonetheless I know what you mean...I actually LOVE the rain.
ReplyDeleteIt was predicted to rain when I planned the slicker's outing but the rain canceled last minute or I wouldn't have chanced my shoes. I love the rain in small doses but not for 18 days straight without letting up for even an hour as I experienced once when I was living much more north in California.
DeleteThe hardware on that piece is on-the-spot, I love it! And I laughed out loud at your last sentence.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lisa! :P
DeleteI'm still enjoying my slicker, and I love your Chies!
ReplyDeleteHi WFF. I think the slicker will be enjoyed for years, and I hope the Chies too.
DeleteAwesome shoes! I'm so glad I read this. I needed a good read. Plus, it's gonna rain this weekend and this will be a great cover.
ReplyDeleteHi gigi. You read me well. ;)
DeleteLOL, I also bought the linen slicker after seeing on Tabitha. I love wearing it, looking forward to bringing it out next spring.
ReplyDeleteHi Louise! Funny how good rain gear can make you wish for rain. This slicker and the red Mackintosh did that to me.
