A year ago today, I inadvertently started my blog.
I had reserved a blog name, thinking it and the premise were kinda cute
and that maybe someday I'd have time to keep up a blog.
But while playing with a mock post to check the degree of difficulty,
I clicked the Publish button and well ... the blog was on.
In that honor and keeping with the theme,
I'm completely sequined in the zigzag sequin dress.
With the dress hitting this length on the legs of many who are taller,
I was hoping it would be knee length on me but alas, it is not.
Husby even gave encouragement for keeping it,
but I said I am no spring chicken, I'm not dressing like I'm in my 20s.
I may wear sequins I may wear crazy pants
I may wear goofy graphics on a tee
but I'm not doing a mini anymore.
(And don't you love the bruise on my knee where I banged into the corner of my desk?)
Besides, it's another for wardrobe fantasies and
I'm trying to grow up about this, with another year behind me.
Oh you do look like a million bucks!!!! I hear you on the shorter lengths. I looked at this on line this a.m. myself and let it go as I recently purchased two dresses which I will blog about this week. I am now trying to find brown polka dot trousers - going to call T.O. today and see if they can help!!
ReplyDeleteOh TR and Dani - scored the pants this a.m.! Dani - I am completely going to rip you off in my oufit!!!!
DeleteWow, thanks WMM! Husby vehemently disagrees with my view on the length but I know what I know, ha. Oh yay, you have joined Dani and me in the choccy polka dotty jammies club and I too am going to rip her off in that outfit.
DeleteAre you kidding me? You rock that dress. It is far from being too mini for your age. I always say that I want to be noticed, not pointed out. There is a difference. Please enjoy your great bod! There will come a day when that dress will be too short. Today is not that day.
ReplyDeleteKATHY - you know how to make the old girl feel good, thanks so much for your kind comments. I'm laughing and smiling away on your points. Well, I may just do it for husby but probably not in my everyday life.
DeleteI also love it on you! It does fit in nicely with the theme of your blog.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on a year as a blogger! Yay! Here's to many more years!
Thank you, Dani. It is sparkly for certain. The best reward for being a blogger is having bloggie besties like you!
Deleteyou look fabulous in this dress! it is not too mini either. love this and happy blogaversary! :)
ReplyDeletephiphi's blog
Thanks so much, phiphi! I am getting braver and braver with each comment. ;)
DeleteCongratulations on your one year blog anniversary!! I love the dress on you. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, ABC!! BTW, I love all the outfits you had on your recent post, I'll be stealing them. :) It's so good to see you up and about too.
DeleteCongrats on your blog anniversary! I loved the dress a lot too, but the size S had some hips I wasn't able to fill. :)
ReplyDeleteHi Rose, thank you! Good point, my arms are down so it's not as noticeable but yes, the dress has hips I can't fill. ;)
DeleteHappy Blogaversity! Maybe you would like the dress better with darkish opaque tights and flat knee length boots?
ReplyDeleteJust a thought on how to keep it because its a great dress.
Love your fabulous idea, A Well Styled Life! It is awfully tempting and I'd wear that meeting you for a glass of wine at some cool casual trendy posh spot but that is in my wardrobe fantasies. Maybe I'll try it before final judgement.
DeleteLove your blog. I've nominated you for a Liebster blog award. Visit my blog for details:

Thanks so much, TC, I'm thrilled!! Coming over to visit you ...
DeleteHehe this seriously is the cutest dress. I want to snag it as well (I also adore sequins!) but I'm not sure how much wear I'd get out of it. Decisions, decisions!
ReplyDeleteTasia
Exactly my dilemma, tiny dancer! I'm not sure I'd even wear it once, I have no occasions except in my wardrobe fantasies. ;)
DeleteI buy for fantasy events too but I definitely think this one is a keeper. Not at all revealing. I think it is ok to go short on a dress when the top is modest and covered up.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Shopping Celle. I've never been one to be revealing but I did used to go short a long, long time ago. ;)
DeleteWow, I LOVE this dress on you! I think you should keep it, for special ocasions?!?! It looks gorgeous on you, and congrats on your blog anniversary, to many more yeards to come with "minis" and sequins!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Andrea and thank you for your nice comments! Oh I need a special occasion but they are only in my fantasies. I will always wear sequins I think but minis not so much. ;)
DeleteSuper duper gorgeous. It looks really, really good on you. I have seen other bloggers wear a slip under dresses and it look really cute. I'm not sure if that would work in this case, but the right length could give an inch or two of colorblocking. I don't think you need it, but it could make you feel comfortable. Another option would be to wear a top underneath that will give it a bit more casual feel. Then maybe you will find the occasion to wear it.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog birth story. lol Congratulations on a year!
Thanks so much for your sweet thoughts and thanks for coming by, my friend. One thing that could work if one could find one long enough is a chambray shirtdress to wear under, like a chambray shirt under a pullover, that can be kind of cool. And then I'd still have to find the occasion for that outfit (slaps knee)!
DeleteYou know what they say, sometimes it feels like I just got started and sometimes it feels like forever. ;)
Happy Bloggiversary! My blog started like that, too, a triumph of inadvertence, and for the first few months I couldn't figure out most of the features. In fact many times Blogger still defeats me. You seem to be very "in charge" over here.
ReplyDeleteI love how the dress looks on you, but since a whole section of my closet is a Museum of Faded Dreams, I'm with you on not buying it. Frankly, even if you wanted it for a New Years Eve gala, when would you wear it again? Next New Year's?
Hi WFF and thank you. Did you ever read the book/see the movie The Accidental Tourist? Our chat is making my thoughts link to that. I just fumble along with Blogger, seeing what I like about other blogs and sometimes discovering I can.
DeleteHa, that's the thing, would I ever get invited to a New Year's Eve gala? And if that happened, would I want to go? I'm getting to be such a homebody in my old age. ;)
Congrats and Happy Bloggiversary! So sad to hear you aren't going to don the sequin dress. You wear it so well, bruise or no bruise. Maybe some tights underneath would make you change your mind???
ReplyDeleteHi sweetie! Thanks! Alrighty, I'll try it one more time this weekend, maybe with tights and a chambray shirt under to see how it goes, for a final verdict ...
DeletePlease please do not return the dress! It looks amazing on you! It is a keeper.. Sometimes when I feel like the dress it is too short for my comfort zone, I wear them with tights during winter and with spanks during warm days, it makes a difference
ReplyDeleteWell thank you, momof2! I might try it with tights this weekend and see. ;)
DeleteReconsider!! It is stunning on you! The sleeves balance out the shorter hem. And i agree with the pp, tights will really make a different too. Promise you'll keep it!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi mommydearest! I'll put it on again this weekend, with tights and maybe even boots to see how it can be more casual and see what happens. Thanks so much for your kind comments!!
DeleteCongrats on your one year!!!:)
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon! Thanks!! :)
DeleteI have just taken all my dresses to the lady to be let down. The ones that are still too short I am cutting into tops. But I am 50 and my knees are slipping. YOU have great gams and can carry the zip zaggy off!
ReplyDeleteWell thanks Jody but what are you talking about, if I could only look as good as you do in New Blue!
DeleteGoodness, you look stunning in that dress, Tiffany Rose! And congratulations on your continued blog success, I really enjoy lurking around here :-)
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Anthro Blogger! And thanks for lurking, come visit anytime. I just visited your cute blog, you have some fun ideas!
DeleteCongrats on your 1 year blog anniversary. You look lovely in the sequin dress!! It goes perfectly with the title of your blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Louise, for your sweet comment!
