Dot Ditty

This will be short and sweet.

Though I'd prefer the polka-dot popover to be more opaque
(I have a thin black wool thermal top under) and a full button up
(popovers are a nuisance to put on and take off), I still love the shirt.
Note the dots are a light tan/beige/khaki color that
I think more sophisticated than white.
The fabric is a cool and comfortable 57% cotton 43% silk blend,
machine washable in cold water.

The dots are also a light tan/beige/khaki color, though with a slight pink cast.
Just like Musings on the Mountain, my first venture into Madewell was
the polka-dot film noir pump. These are the kind of shoes for which I break my no-higher-than-three-inch-heel rule. Thank goodness they're leather and leather lined, thus became more and more comfortable as the day went on. They are danged cute and well worth the bit of suffering to break them in.

The minnie pant in bi-stretch wool is a classic in my wardrobe.
I am once again wearing the regular length even if I'm petite height.
Though the waist of the smallest size is about two inches too big,
I'm willing to put up with that. They can be depended upon for a stylish and not-too-casual look, while rarely needing wrinkle removal.
That (no wrinkle smoothing needed) makes me sing a happy little tune.

  1. How do you launder your minnie bi-stretch wool pants? I purchased them on pop back, but I will not be wearing them until fall. I love those shoes, especially with that top. Unfortunately, I can't do the high heel pumps anymore. Your outfits always pop!

    1. Oh thanks! I am pleasantly surprised how I'm taking to higher heels lately, I don't even wobble when I walk. ;)

I have not laundered my wool minnies. I think they are supposed to be dry cleaned, but if I get around to it, I may try washing a pair. I'll post an update when I do.

  2. HA! I think it's funny that I love all the things you don't about this top. I find the popover much less bulky than full button up - tucks in and stays (I spend all day retucking the button placket) or untucked is smooth over the body - no gaping. And the thinner material is more comfortable in silk which usually makes me sweat. With nude bra - I have had no see through effect. Great Outfit - so chic. You look amazing. I like where your minnies hit your ankle. looks great with heels.

    1. Ha! ;)

I like the way popovers look, especially if worn untucked. I am usually cold, which is the main reason I wore the thin thermal underneath; my office can get too cool.

Thanks so much for your nice comments.

  3. In LOVE with those shoes! I haven't purchased because they are above my usual heel height too, but I love the outfit!

    1. Even on polka dot overload, I had to add the shoes to my closet. I took a chance on the heel height and am pleasantly surprised how comfortable I am with them.

  4. Love dots and those shoes are so fun! A very chic Audrey Hepburn-esque outfit on you. I have been looking for a beautifully fitting pair of trousers like those in white...

    1. Would that not be the holy grail if one were to find a pair of trousers fitting like these and in white without the see-through factor?!

    2. Yeeees! There is a blog post in this! I have tried on all the white trousers in Northern California and they are either ill-fitting or show my bum (and seams)

    3. Or a documentary! I have tried for years to no avail, the closest to success was white corduroy and my latest try was very thick white denim that still showed through the pocket lining.

Why is it I sense an ultra hilarious post coming from you?

  5. Now this is how to wear polka dots! The Madewell shoes are classic IMO. I wish I would have bought the blue suede version.

    1. Thank you, xoxo! The shoes got noticed and strangers asked where I got them. The blue suede ones are pretty and would be fab for you.
