Bling Chambray

With my love for chambray shirts and sparkly things,
you know I had to have this -- the boy shirt in beaded chambray.
Good thing I got it during a recent promo since the 00 is now sold out.
IRL, the shirt is a greyer blue than what's showing on my monitor.
It's nicely faded, thank goodness without the drastic contrast between light and dark I dislike. 100% cotton. Very soft. No pockets.
The shirt would not be particularly remarkable without the bling.
The "hand-applied clusters" are sewn-on rhinestones, see a close-up.
Some have noticed each cluster looks like an angel
or guardian angel jewelry. What do you think?
I think it's a very good thing to have 20 angels providing protection.
I need all the help I can get.
Wearing with Liberty toothpick jean in June's Meadow floral and Valentina mirror metallic pumps.
And it's a really, really good thing I did not buy this shirt from a store. Because I would have compared every shirt in my size looking for perfect angels to drive myself insane. (Do not go shopping with me for a stuffed animal if there are 78 of the same teddy bear available.)
Most of the clusters are a bit askew like this.
With a single shirt in hand, I decided they were OK slightly flawed.
Kinda like us humans.

P.S. See Gigi's excellent review of the shirt here.

  2. Love this shirt! They do look a bit like guardian angel jewelry but there are worse things to have accompanying you. I just took the plunge and bought my very first chambray shirt (better late on a trend than never, I guess?) so I'm going to dig back through your archives for styling ideas!

    1. Hi Danielle! I say angels can accompany me any time. To me, chambray shirts are like jeans, not this one maybe but I think they're classics. I'll be looking for you wearing one on your blog. ;)

  3. I like your guardian angels. I am not really obsessive about stuff except for what I am obsessive about....Still too hot for either of my chambray shirts yet. Thank goodness - since once it is cool I will blink and it will be winter!

    1. It feels like we're just about to heat up and you're right, before you know it, we'll be in sweater weather and wishing for summer again.

  4. Angels! The only time I do daytime bling is the last week in December, thank you so much for pointing this out. And you're not the only one who's extra cautious about the placement of adornments, prints etc. All it takes is one snicker on the school bus - scarred for life.

    1. Those early days seem traumatized me too, I was scarred in first or second grade. And adornments and prints, yicks.

So does this mean you'll be wearing the 20-angel chambray shirt in late December?

  5. They do look like angels, it's your lucky protective chambray shirt now - see you did have room for one more.

    1. I'll think of it as my lucky protective shirt. It's too easy for me to justify one more.

  6. What a pretty shirt! I think you look fab with it paired with the Liberty toothpicks.

Those cute little guardian angel charms - may be an option to bling out another shirt by sewing on a dozen of those cute little guys.

    1. Thanks, Lisa. I think next time I keep it simple and wear it with jeans or chinos. I used to DIY on just about everything and now I go almost the opposite way, rarely even sewing on buttons.

  7. i love this shirt, and had not noticed the angel motif before you mentioned it!

also - if you and i shopped together for bears, we'd be stuck in a pile of them for hours.

  8. Thanks for the link love! Lol at your askew angels. I was looking at mine last nite. I was going to inspect up close to see how well they were sewn on, but decided not to. I'm glad I passed because if I see a messed up angel, I'll get a mental flash of wire hangers. I love your outfit!! You do it right.

  9. I lIke the bling chambray, in fact I have gotten so much use out of my bling-less chambray shirt I have considered getting another. Love how you wear your silver shoes with the outfit too. I love my Prada silvers and am looking to wear them more, good ideas here today.

    1. Hey so happy to see you by though I've been a little MIA, will catch up, promise! Whether you're wearing bling or bling-less shirt, you have your own bling-y personality so there will be no lack of sparkles from you. Wear your silver Prada more, you'll find they work with almost everything.

  10. I'm obsessed in the same way! Have to find *the* perfect one always or else it drives me crazy. Nothing wrong with being a perfectionist in my opinion;) Love the shirt...I am debating if I need another chambray but they are so comfy and versatile it's hard to say no...

    1. Hi Sharon! I can't say no to chambray shirts because they're like jeans to me, there's always a reason why a different wash or cut is needed. But then I'm excessive, I admit. This shirt is not exactly low maintenance but I love it.

You and I cannot go shopping together, at least not if we want to make it quick. ;)
