A Moment in Time

Spurred on by Heidi's post on renovations and roses,
I clipped these from my garden and brought them to work. Why did I not do this every week all spring and summer long? They've been blooming away at the side of the house where we rarely ever see them.
Now I'm reminded to enjoy their glorious moments
and take more time to smell the roses.
Oh no. I'm dreading a Wally B moment. He recounted that here.
A pair of mine are missing. They did not come back from the wash and I've retraced my steps several times, double-checked the washer and dryer at least three times and shook out and cross-examined every item in that same load of laundry thinking they stuck. Nope.
I was blog surfing and somehow came upon this. I don't know who these ladies are but unlike Kate below who was having a rather pretty time fighting the elements, the one in the pale cafĂ© au lait dress was captured in an unfortunate moment against the wind.
Kate was attending a forum where experts addressed cyber bullying; self-harm; special education needs; raising aspirations, access and achievements; and preventing addiction to build emotional resilience and strength. While the attention is likely on her Marilyn moment, perhaps some greater awareness will come of the worthy discussion to nurture good mental health in children.
It was a spur-of-the-moment decision to wear the sequin bow pant to work. Can I plead a momentary lapse of good judgment?

  1. Not many people can get away with those slacks but you have!

Yes Kate is having a poor time of it of late..

You have pretty roses just like Heidi does! You should get a rose brick like she has got bc she says it just arranges perfectly. Am having rose envy over here...

    1. I do have good roses, don't I? And I wish you could smell them, the scent is heavenly and heavy. The best part ... we don't even take care of them other than watering when we remember ...

  2. I like the trousers on you! Thanks for the mention, and so glad you've enjoyed your roses too. Lucky you that you have some in a side garden you don't really view - I always suffer agonies as to whether I should cut them or leave them on the bush to enjoy. Fortunately I suffer no such problems when I visit my Dad's, hence the armful to carry home (although to be fair, he has an enormous garden and you hardly notice where I cut mine from).
That poor girl at the races... there are often several very good reasons to wear industrial strength half slips underneath your flimsy silky dresses, and the wind factor is definitely one of them xx

    1. Good point, if the rose bushes were where we could see them maybe I wouldn't be so quick to clip away. Your post was the kick I needed to make time to enjoy them, so thank you.

Yes, that poor girl at the races, industrial strength half slip was what she needed.

  3. I am with Heidi - I dither about cutting or not cutting - they look so magnificent on! I love yours! Yay to the bow pants - One has to live! I thought Kate looked cute and wonder if the Queen called her after and reminded her about the little weights sewn into the hem...

    1. Aha, the little weights sewn into the hem!

As for the bow pants, I had too many parties in mind when I bought them so figured I'd make every day a party. Or at least the days I'm wearing sparkles!

  4. The roses are exquisite. They would be a beautiful addition to your Thanksgiving table.

I hope your unmentionables show up in a discreet place. I lost a sock once and went crazy looking for it to no avail. Eventually found it inside a pair of pajama pants when I put them on.

    1. The roses are beauties if I say so myself, husby planted them a very long time ago and I love them. The unmentionables ... they did a good job hiding discreetly, ha!

  5. Gorgeous roses! Kate does look fabulous in blue.

In Canada, the government is introducing a law against cyber bullying. There have been a few teenagers in Canada who committed suicide after being bullied online. As a parent, I often feel like I am in completely uncharted territory as none of this technology existed when I was growing up. My daughter is able to use my iPad almost as well as me and she is only 4!

    1. Blue is her color, agree.

On cyber bullying, sadly the suicides have also occurred here. It can be scary what the e-world brings. Your daughter is way ahead of me on an iPad, I'm certain.

  6. Another vote for the rose brick !

I'd never dare those pants, but they're great on you.

    1. I'll have to get a rose brick then!

Ha, I often wonder what possesses me to think whatever I'm wearing is OK.

  7. The trousers look fab on you, I've just taken THE pink bauble out of its box, in ten days time it will come to fruition, thanks again Tiff!

    1. Thanks, Tabs. Oh how fun the pink bauble will be out for the season! Perhaps it will remind you of the warmer climes until you get here in June.

  9. Haha! you look fabulous in that outfit, love that combo of camel and white and pattern. Have to look up where you got those pumps. My doublenonfatlatte (rather than the cafe au lait up the hoosey whatsit) is the most important thing in my day and your outfit reminds me of that!!!

    1. Unfortunately or fortunately, they're sold out, the J.Crew valentina printed patent pumps. They work with a lot of outfits but they're not exactly the most comfortable shoes even if you think they'd be with their lower height. You're hilarious, making a connection with the café au lait and my crazy outfit and your daily latte. That dress up the whatsit is not a good look, is it?

    2. Blow because I am finding it really tricky to take on this leopard skin trend, can't seem to do it nohow, think the tricky is for me the skin needs loads of camel and cream. A latte leopard

  10. Where are they?! Give us the update! How funny is Wally, he cracks me up all the time.
Very pretty roses and that is an unfortunate malfunction of that dress... I'm with Heidi, slips are the thing... and I am loving your outfit!

    1. So good of you to make the introduction to Wally, he is delightful and hilarious. Well ... I was all ready to accept that my washer ate them but made one last look around and ha, found them hanging off the corner of a stack of boxes by the dryer. They had flipped to the beige side and conveniently blended with the boxes like a cameleon. How I managed to fling them that far ... Any way, I'm hanging on to all my slips, you can hardly find them anymore.

    1. Hey Peet, thanks and thanks for coming by. We have roses almost all year around, more buds about to bloom this week. Wish I could send some your way, I'll be on travel and won't really be able to enjoy them.
