If you're a Scandal fan, you celebrated the return of Olivia Pope and associates this past week. If you're not aware, for trashy intrigue, clever dialogue, crazy storyline twists and quirky characters, you might consider checking the show Thursday nights. Or catch it on demand.
And I just heard repeats will be on Tuesdays, starting tomorrow.
It's not subtle symbolism OP (affectionately known as Liv) is often dressed in white. The show's creator wanted her character to stand out in the sea of dark colors that is the WDC uniform.
Pointing out that Liv is the "good guy" isn't lost on me. No siree.
Oops, off on a tangent. I really meant to talk about the white trench.
It may not be a white trench my girl crush Audrey is wearing,
but you get the idea; close enough.
Liz is wearing white but don't you think she's smoldering
bad-girl danger wrapped up in that trench?
Charlize strutting.
Kate. Of course.
J.Crew model.
My best impression.
And why I returned the bat wings bateau trench dress.
Mine is obviously not in the running but ...
What is your favorite good guys outfit?
Do you, would you own a white trench?
I love a good white trench too- it's the ultimate sophistication, especially on holidays or in summer
ReplyDeleteHi cecylia. A white trench can be very elegant.
DeleteI would be afraid of white!
ReplyDeleteLove scandal and last week did not disappoint!
A white anything seems to be trouble especially something you can't wash.
DeleteWasn't Scandal fun? What will be next!
yes I do! but it is sooo flimsy - but its a 90's donna karan so it just stays in closet purgatory between never wearing and too good for the salvo's. but i will start wearing mine because it really never ages does it? But white is widening...
ReplyDeleteTake it out and try it, there are times when I think I hate something but change my mind when I give it another chance or after a few years.
DeleteI have a medium beige Michael Kors (with removal thinsulate lining and removable hood!)--lets face it, beige is about as good as I get.
ReplyDeleteHoly Batwings, Robin! I forgot all about that J Crew trench. Never got the point of the half-sleeves. In retrospect, even the model looks a little confused. Note how she's keeping her arms to the side so you can't see that you could fit like 4 more of her arms into each sleeve. Or I guess you could tuck an umbrella into one side and a fedora into the other?
Ha! Just like the model, I found it didn't look that bad as long as you kept your arms down. I could not get over the wide sleeves, even debated about getting them altered. At the end, I decided I'd never get around it since I have a big batch of things that need work already. And somebody mentioned it reminded of a lab coat ...
DeleteOh my God, you look the best of the lot! I love that outfit to bits and it has gone back?
ReplyDeleteOh and I'm off to stalk ebay now, I still want those Valentinas.
Oh my goodness, I'm flattered, Tabs. Yes, the trench dress went back a while back, I couldn't make the sleeves work for me.
DeleteI'll help you stalk the Valentinas, the print on mine is softer than some others I've seen and they are quite versatile. But they are not comfortable if that makes you feel better about missing them.
I've never seen Scandal but the trench coat looks divine. I have a light grey version that looks a lot like Audrey's. I'm too clumsy to wear a white coat. I would probably lean up against a car and end up with a camo version.
ReplyDeleteIs your outfit a coat or a dress, or is it designed to work as either (or neither)? I have an older, sleeveless double-breasted wool trench dress from J.Crew that is quite nice and a silk version with long sleeves from Lacoste that is absolutely divine. I like the concept but it has to be very streamlined to function as a dress.
Camo version, lol! That's what I'd end up with as well.
DeleteThis was called a trench dress and I think it was designed to work either way but had I kept it, I would not have likely worn it as a dress, think I would have felt it not opaque enough and somebody thought it had a hospital gown vibe to it. It's an interesting idea to wear as a summer coat but I didn't think the sleeves on this one were flattering either way. As you say, it has to be streamlined to work as a dress. The silk Lacoste sounds divine.
Ahhh, look how you've tied the belt! Honey, you look as good as any of those girls.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks so much Merry Wife, you made my day. :)
DeleteWhat a fabulous line up! I once had a white trench and everyone was always proferring their wrists and asking me to "take my temperature Dr'. it must have been the way I wore it, because I do love them. the kate one is stunning. I love your jeans and shoes underneath that dress.
ReplyDeleteThink I remember other bloggers saying this one reminded them of a lab coat or hospital gown so I can relate! I love them too so I may try this looks again, wish me luck. ;)
DeleteThe white trench is just so crisp and chic! I totally could not pull that off ... I would sit on a ketchup packet for sure! ;o)
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of white shirts, pants, jackets and coats but I'm a magnet for dusty cars, marinara sauce, sqirting cherry tomatoes, melted chocolate ...
DeleteI have a black APC trench which is my most-loved and most-worn garment. I partly love it for its ability to double as a blanket and a picnic rug as well as - in spite of all that - a rather smart coat! I would be worried to tuck a white trench around me in the cinema, or even to sit down on a London bus! Plus, I am a magnet for croissant crumbs and flecks of ice cream. Sigh. I will just have to admire them from afar, along with their lighter-weight cousins, the white blazers.
ReplyDeleteLove your shoes.
Oops, I meant to reply :)
DeleteA trench that doubles as a blanket and picnic rug is a treasure. White coats/jackets look so good but I'm scared of them too. I'm a magnet for spills and splatters when I wear white.
